Dow and Children's Technology Park "Mendeleev Centre" launch science show "Battle of the Chemists"

Moscow, Russia - September 28, 2021 – Dow (NYSE: DOW) and Children's Technology Park Mendeleev Center are launching a new joint project Battle of the Chemists, a popular science show for schoolchildren. The project is aimed at encouraging an interest in science, training specific skills and managing trials in chemistry. Secondary school students from grades 7-9 will compete in laboratory work and chemical experiments. The jury, including leading chemists and professors of the D. Mendeleyev University of Chemical Technology, will evaluate the students' knowledge in chemistry and safety, their competence of laboratory works and quality of substances obtained by the students during the chemical experiments.

In order to take part in the competition, students of secondary school (7-9 grades) should record a video about themselves and their achievements in chemistry. According to the results of the casting, nine candidates from all over Russia will be selected to compete in the chemical experiments and laboratory work. The launch of the show is scheduled for October 30, 2021 and will be broadcasted weekly on the YouTube channel of the Children's Technology Park Mendeleev Center.

"Four years ago, during the official opening of the laboratory for high school and university students at the D. I. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia, we committed to promote chemistry and STEM disciplines among the younger generation and their parents. Following year, we became an industrial partner and sponsor of Mendeleev Centre, which was opened at the University in early 2020. Despite the latest challenges connected with the pandemic, we remain committed to our goal promoting sciences by working together with the University and the Technology Park. We are confident that Battle of the Chemists project will help school students to advance their knowledge, skills and capabilities and will provide new opportunities in studying chemistry," commented Arthur Eritspokhov, Dow Russia and CIS Regional Leader.

"Support of the talented schoolchildren in science disciplines is one of the priority tasks of the supplementary education. Moreover, it is essential to develop project-based interaction jointly with industrial partners. Innovative activities of such programs help to expand creative development of schoolchildren and help to meet their individual needs," said Daria Martyukhova, Director of the Children's Technology Park Mendeleev Centre. “The popular science show Battle of the Chemists will allow every school student from all over Russia to participate personally and become famous sharing his knowledge and passion for chemistry with other people.”

The popular science show Battle of the Chemists is a great opportunity for children to find answers quickly, even to the most difficult questions, and to solve multi-choice and complex practical chemistry tasks. A winner of the show will receive a memorable give-away.
