Dow and Partners Gather Industry at Pack Studios Academy in Moscow
Dow, Macchi and Resinex invited customers, brand owners and trade media to a unique packaging seminar focusing on further business growth in Russia and the CIS
Moscow, Russia - October 24, 2018 - Three industry leaders, including Dow, Macchi and Resinex, closely collaborated to arrange an exclusive program for their value chain partners in form of a Pack Studios Academy dedicated to the global trends in flexible packaging technologies customized to Russia and the CIS, including a strong focus on consumer experience, conversion efficiency, sustainability and eco-friendly packaging design. More than 150 members of the Russian packaging industry engaged on October 23, 2018, in the “Radisson Royal”, Moscow, in a mix of industry presentations, technical know-how sharing as well as interactive prototypes sessions on the latest developments in food and industrial packaging.
Today consumers want to be assured that the carbon footprint of the packaging is as small as possible, including fully recyclable solutions used to extend product shelf life,” shared Sergey Popov, Leading purchasing expert in consumer packaging, during his speech on consumers’ opinion about flexible packaging development in Russia. He also highlighted the trends in meat packaging demand and expectations for essential solutions to improve packaging functionality and increase shelf life, along with expectations to suppliers.
Innovating for local market needs
In alignment with the demand for the recyclable packaging, Jaroslaw Jelinek, EMEA Marketing Manager at Dow Packaging & Specialty Plastics, introduced Dow’s latest all-polyethylene pouch concept that is suitable for MDO (machine directed orientation) production and, being a mono-material solution, allows for recyclability of the whole structure.
Further selected industry speakers were giving different perspectives on the recent developments in food and industrial packaging in the Region:
- Dmitry Emelin, General Director of Ogard Company, Nordmeccanica representative office in Russia, a leading producer in coating laminating and metallizing machinery, gave insights on the revolutionary lamination technology running on the unique Duplex SL OneShot™ line and using Dow’s solvent free SYMBIEX™ adhesive. This technology allows to shorten dramatically the lamination manufacturing cycle and to speed up end-product delivery to customers.
- Ilya Tolstov, Sales and Technical Manager at EVAL Europe (Kuraray Group), one of the leading producers of barrier polymer EVOH, introduced unique barrier packaging properties and their main advantages for consumers.
- Daniele Cerasaro, Senior International Area Manager Macchi Spa, one of the leading blown film extrusion systems producers, and Vyacheslav Ryabov, Head of Macchi Russia Representative office, presented extrusion solutions for food packaging and barrier films, along with films for industrial packaging and shared their POD (Polyolefin dedicated) concept for all polyethylene and other solutions.
- Dow packaging experts Peter Sandkuehler, Principle Scientist PackStudios, Fedor Merkulov, Account Manager Packaging & Specialty Plastics, Daniele Vinci, Technology Application Leader for Adhesives in EMEAI, and Ilya Bogomolov, Technical Service and Development Engineer of Dow Packaging & Specialty Plastics, provided unique learnings on Dow’s Pack Studios concept and how it helps to accelerate innovation, on effective solutions for food packaging – based on heritage Dow and DuPont packaging portfolios – and the role of lamination adhesives in flexible packaging as well as on the new capabilities of INNATE™ precision packaging resins.
