Dow and children's technology park Altair launch educational project Sustainable Innovations
MOSCOW, Russia – May 19, 2020 – Dow (NYSE: DOW) and the children's technology park Altair of the Russian Technological University MIREA for the first time in Russia launched the educational program Sustainable Innovations developed by NGO We are innovators and adapted by RTU MIREA teachers. Students of 8-11 grades are invited to on-line sessions dedicated to the pressing challenges of modern society, economy, and environment. The sessions will be held bi-weekly on Monday and Thursday at 16.00 – 17.30 free of charge and effective as of May 25, 2020.
At the sessions students will be able to develop their creative skills suggesting innovative ideas that will help to solve various issues – from energy efficiency technologies to biotechnology. Learn more about the project.
In the beginning of the year Dow became an industrial partner of the Russian Technological University MIREA. The main focus of cooperation is to implement joint education projects, promote STEM sciences among young generation and share best practices.

For the first time in December 2019 Dow STEM ambassadors held a chemistry lesson for the local schoolchildren about pH indicator in the Altair. More than 50 children learned about the concept of pH, conducted experiments to determine pH of products and substances (water, lemon juice, soda, vinegar, washing powder, etc.) using a natural indicator - red cabbage juice.
The global Dow’s initiative STEM (Science. Technology. Engineering. Mathematics) aimed at promoting STEM disciplines among schoolchildren supporting and initiating educational projects.

The children's technology park Altair of the Russian Technological University MIREA was established in September 2019 supported by the Moscow Government. It was the first children’s technology park with chemical laboratories opened for schoolchildren in Moscow. Children's technology parks are special educational and experimental sites where students learn advanced technologies and how to work with high-tech equipment.
