Dow Izolan Supplied Materials for Construction of Astana EXPO 2017 Facilities and New Astana Railway Station
Dow Izolan, a joint venture of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) and the Scientific Manufacturing Company Izolan ltd., supplied Izolan 145 polyurethane foam spray systems for the construction of Astana EXPO 2017 facilities and a new Astana railway station. Application of Izolan 145 helped to solve a number of complex engineering tasks related to heat insulation at the facilities located in the central part of Kazakhstan, characterized by acutely continental climate.

In 2015 our customer GUTA-TekhStroy TOO, and the major building contractor of Astana EXPO 2017 Sembol Insaat, contacted us with a request to supply polyurethane foam that meets engineering and climatic requirements for the construction of Astana EXPO 2017 facilities. Dow Izolan R&D specialists produced a new product – Izolan 145 specifically for the building in Kazakhstan. The construction area of Astana EXPO 2017 and new railway station with Izolan 145 heat insulation was around 23,600 sq.m.,” highlighted Mikhail Tsarfin, president and chairman of the board of Dow Izolan.

Izolan 145 is used for polyurethane heat insulation of walls, ceilings, foundations and floors in all types of buildings (residential, administrative, industrial). An ability to apply the PU system under heavy load conditions is a specific characteristic of Izolan 145. This polyurethane features low thermal conductivity, excellent solidification and equal density distribution in the product.
Astana EXPO 2017
International specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 will be held on June 10 - September 10, 2017. The main theme of the exhibition is “Energy of the Future”. It reflects the global community’s concern about energy consumption, which significantly impacts the Earth. The key objectives of the exhibition are the following: to raise the level of responsibility, to promote discussions and share the knowledge that will help people to learn more on how to plan and control energy consumption, minimizing negative impacts on the nature.
Astana EXPO 2017 exhibition center’s total area is 174 ha. 35 facilities are to be built there, including Kazakhstan national pavilion, international, theme and corporate pavilions, as well as trade and entertainment facilities. It is also planned to build a conference center, a press center, roofed town, residential premises and hotels beyond the exhibition territory.
Astana EXPO 2017 is the largest project of Kazakhstan. Astana was named the venue of EXPO 2017 international specialized exhibition on November 22, 2012 at the 152nd General Assembly of International Exhibition Bureau. Representatives of 161 countries, who are the members of the International Exhibition Bureau, took part in the secret ballot. The location of Astana was supported by 103 countries. The upcoming exhibition has become a true national project where all regions of Kazakhstan are taking part.
